The project examines interpretation, aesthetic experience, mediation, art history, and the developing implications of Post-Interpretive Criticism. It brings the philosophical question of restraint into contact with the ways art is encountered, situated, described, and understood.</p><p>The published conversation and the developing book are distinct records. This entry does not present the manuscript as a completed publication.</p><h2 id="research-context">Research context</h2><p>Dong-Yeon Koh is an art historian, critic, and curator whose research connects postwar Korean art with memory, gender, and cultural history. Her books include <em>The Korean War and Post-memory Generation: The Arts and Films in South Korea</em> (Routledge, 2021). She brings sustained historical research and curatorial experience to questions of how an artwork becomes available to a viewer.</p><p>Koh's research on memory keeps historical context in the discussion of restraint. PIC must explain how a critic can limit a claim without losing the history that makes the work intelligible. Her questions about anonymity and the writing subject test that problem against the critic's own position and responsibilities.</p><p><a href="https://www.dongyeonkoh.com/about">Koh's scholarly profile and publications</a></p><h2 id="public-record">Public record</h2><p><em>The Conversation</em> forms part of the continuing exchange informing the book.
